Thank you, Boston!

The TestBoston study was a COVID-19 at-home sample collection study conducted by Brigham and Women's Hospital and the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. Between September 2020 and December 2021, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, over 10,000 participants enrolled in the study, completing over 47,000 PCR tests. This study is now complete.

Findings from this study were used to provide crucial, real-time insights about the prevalence of COVID-19 in the city of Boston to help support public health efforts. Our published work also highlighted risk factors for COVID-19 acquisition to help understand the populations most at risk, and lessons learned on conducting remote “at home” research, which could help make research participation more broadly accessible in the future.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our research participants. We could not have accomplished this study without the support of the greater Boston community.
